Be Capable of Leading Any Team
Job security is not promised to anyone.
We need a strategy to improve, grow, make impact, and build as much security as possible. You can choose to go deep within your domain, that's what many people do. But what happens when that domain becomes obsolete. Have you built enough transferrable skills that allow you to be successful in another domain?
Maybe, maybe not.
The strategy I've landed on is people leadership.
If I can learn to lead people, influence them, motivate them, develop them, coach them, and ensure they are operating at a high level, I will always be successful.
It won't matter what domain I work in, what company I work for, what level I am in the organization, or what my job title is. If I can lead people, I can be effective anywhere.
Leaders were leading people 1,000 years ago. There will be people leaders 1,000 years from today.
